南方医院创伤骨科，是集医疗、教学与科研为一体的国家重点培育学科、首批国家重点临床专科、广东省高等院校重点学科、广东省创伤救治研究中心、骨与软骨再生医学重点实验室、博士后流动站。本科医疗资源丰富，设骨与关节外科、肩肘外科、足踝外科、运动损伤、小儿骨科、手外科等亚专科，设有步态分析室、功能康复室、支具矫形室、肌电图室等。科室医疗技术特色鲜明，在肢体严重创伤的急、危、重症救治积累丰富经验，形成了以四肢骨关节损伤及其并发症的治疗为技术特色，在严重肢体外伤性或发育性畸形的外科矫形、顽固性骨髓炎（感染性骨缺损）的治疗、严重骨与关节损伤的治疗、复杂骨盆髋臼骨折的治疗、肢体毁损伤的显微重建修复、四肢骨折的微创技术、老年骨折的综合治疗、臂丛与周围神经损伤的治疗、四肢运动损伤的治疗、肩肘外科、足踝外科、小儿骨科等疾病的诊治等方面具有明显的技术优势，部分技术处于国际领先或先进水平，在国内外具有一定的影响。科室技术力量雄厚，学科内多人在国内外及省内相关学术组织中担任主任委员、副主任委员等学术职务。人才梯队合理，科研实力强，承担了包括国家863、973项目在内的30多项基金课题。目前共获得各类成果奖30余项，其中国家科技进步二等奖1项，军队科技成果一等奖3项。创伤骨科已先后与美国、英国、意大利、瑞士、香港等国家与地区建立了长期的学术交流与科研合作关系。学科将面向新世纪、瞄准国际发展前沿，紧密跟踪国际新发展动态，着力开拓创新性技术，将在显微、微创及导航技术等方面有新的突破，不断提高肢体创伤救治水平，为伤残患者造福，为人类健康服务。TheDepartmentofOrthopedicTraumaofNanfangHospitalisaunitfornationalkeydisciplinesthatintegratesmedicaltreatment,teachingandscientificresearch.Itisoneofthefirstsitesapprovedintermsofnationalkeyclinicalspecialty,andisakeydisciplinesiteintheuniversitiesofGuangdongProvince.Also,ourdepartmentisaresearchcenterfortraumatreatmentinGuangdongProvince,akeylaboratoryofboneandcartilageregeneration,andofferspostdoctoralresearchprograms.Ourdepartmentisrichinmedicalresourceswithboneandjointsurgery,shoulderandelbowsurgery,footandanklesurgery,sportsinjury,pediatricorthopedics,handsurgeryandothersubspecialties,andhasagaitanalysisroom,functionrecoveryroom,orthopedicbraceroom,EMG(Electromyography)room,etc.Ourdepartmentisdistinctivelyfeaturedinmedicaltechnologies,andhasaccumulatedarichexperienceinthetreatmentofacute,criticalandseverecasesoflimbtrauma.Wehaveformedtechnicalexpertiseinthetreatmentofjointinjuriesoflimbsandtheircomplications,andhavesignificanttechnicaladvantagesinsurgicalorthopedicsofseverephysicaltraumaordevelopmentalmalformationsandtreatmentofintractablechronicosteomyelitis(infectedbonedefects),treatmentofsevereboneandjointinjuries,treatmentofcomplexpelvicacetabularfractures,microscopicreconstructionandrepairoflimbdamage,minimallyinvasivetechniquesoflimbfractures,integratedtreatmentoffracturesintheelderly,treatmentofbrachialplexusandperipheralnerveinjury,treatmentoflimbinjuryresultingfromsports,anddiagnosisandtreatmentofdiseasesrelatedtoshoulderandelbow,footandankle,andpediatricorthopedics.Insometechnologies,wearetakingtheleadgloballyorareatanadvancedlevel,andhavesomeinfluenceathomeandabroad.Ourdepartmenthassignificanttechnicalstrength,withseveralpersonsactingaschairmen,vice-chairmenortakingotheracademicpositionsinacademicorganizationsofGuangdongProvince,Chinaorininternationalacademicorganizations.Withareasonablepersonnelstructureandstrongscientificresearchstrength,wehavetakenoraretakingchargeofmorethan30fundprojects,includingthoseofthe863Programandthe973Program.Sofar,wehavereceivedmorethan30achievementawards,includingasecondprizeoftheNationalScienceandTechnologyProgressAward,and3firstprizesoftheMilitaryScienceandTechnologyAchievementAward.Wehaveestablishedalong-termrelationshipofacademicexchangesandscientificresearchcooperationwithinstitutionsintheUnitedStates,Britain,Italy,Switzerland,HongKongandothercountriesorregions.Facingthenewcentury,weareaimingattheinternationalforefrontofdevelopment,closelytrackingthelatestinternationaldevelopments,andmakingeffortstodevelopinnovativetechnologies.Wewillmakenewbreakthroughsinmicroscopic,minimallyinvasiveandnavigationtechnologies,andconstantlyimprovetheleveloftreatmentforphysicaltrauma,tobenefitpatientswithdisabilitiesandtoprovidehealthcareservicesforhumanbeings.
